Q: What is the URL of the myUSF portal?
A: The URL to access Blackboard and the myUSF portal is
https://my.usf.edu.
Q: What is my username and password?
A: The username will be your USF NetID, and the password will be the one you set up using the UNA page
(
https://una.acomp.usf.edu).
Q: What is a NetID?
A: A NetID gives you access to USF's Webportal (MyUSF), Web Email, Webspace, and access to all Open Use Labs at USF. To
sign up for your free NetID goto
https://una.acomp.usf.edu using your favorite
web browser. All that is required is that you have a valid USF identification card.
Q: I am not able to login to myUSF. It gives me a username and password error message.
A: If you are not able to login to myUSF, please try your NetID and password at
https://una.acomp.usf.edu.
If you are able to login here, there may be a problem with myUSF, in which case please e-mail us at
myusf@acomp.usf.edu.
If you are not able to login here either, you might have forgotten your password. Click on the "Forgot your NetID
password?" link to reset it.
Q: Are the students registered for the upcoming semester courses enrolled to the Bb course shells?
A: As soon as the current semester (finals week) ends, students are enrolled into their respective new course site in
Bb. As Bb is updated daily, newly registered students will be enrolled as and when they register with a maximum delay
of 24 hours.
Q: I have registered for the upcoming/current semester, but still do not see the course in myUSF.
A: If you did register on the same day, please allow at least 12 hours for the system to update and enroll you into the
respective Bb course shell. If it has been more than a day since you registered in Oasis, and still do not see the
course in myUSF, it is possible that the Instructor of the course has made the course unavailable; please check with
the instructor.
Q: How do I check my grades from past semester courses?
A: From the myUSF Tools under the myUSF tab, on the top left of page, click on 'myUSF Grades'. You will see the courses
where the Instructor has enabled checking grades. Past semester course sites are unavailable and will not be listed
under your list of courses.
Q: My Collaboration/Chat session in the course does not work. What do I need to do?
A: For the collaboration server to work, Blackboard requires your browser to have at least JRE (Java plugin) version
1.4.1 (or later) installed. To check your browser configuration, use the Browser Wizard at
http://www.acomp.usf.edu/browsercheck/.
Q: I am getting a weird error message while clicking on something in the myUSF page. What do I do?
A: Please call our Help Desk to let them know about the problem OR copy the error message and e-mail us at
myusf@acomp.usf.edu with a brief description of which page you were trying to
access, course ID if any, your NetID, and approximate time of access. This information will help expedite a resolution.
Q: I have windows 2000/XP and my web browser is Internet Explorer - or; I get server errors whenever I post to
blackboard. What can I do to fix this?
A: If you are using Windows 2000 or XP and you web browser is Internet Explorer, then you will need to update your
system to the latest Service Pack from Microsoft though windows update. Blackboard is fully compatible under
Netscape,
Mozilla, and
Firefox web browsers if you prefer not to
update Windows.
Q: I was taking an exam in Blackboard and my computer froze. I reset my computer and now my test in Blackboard is
locked. What to I do?
A: If your test is locked due to hardware or software failure, you will need to contact your instructor about the
problem.
Q: I spent a few hours typing a response to a discussion on Blackboard. When I submitted the answer the login screen
appeared. What happened? Did I loose my work?
A: Your session probably timed out and your work was lost. To prevent loosing your work, type your response in a word
processor first, and then copy and paste your response into the discussion board. (This has several benefits - you
can save a copy of your response to your computer or a floppy disk and your response is spell checked and grammar
checked.)
Q: My instructor posted Powerpoint/Word/Excel files online but I don't have Mircosoft office. Is it still possible for
me to still download and print these files?
A: You can still view and print Mircosoft files without having Mircosoft Office installed by downloading the Mircosoft
viewer plugins. However, these plugins will only allow you view Mircosoft files. If you want to edit Mircosoft files
without having Mircosoft Office installed you can download OpenOffice to your computer. OpenOffice
http://www.openoffice.org offers the same functionality of Mircosoft Office,
but is free.
